Design a comms plan
Whether you are just starting out, mid-way through your research, or have just reached your conclusions, it’s never too late to start communicating your research and exploring what is available.
Adopting an integrated and strategic plan online and offline will help generate momentum. In turn, this will increase your chance of reaching the audience who can benefit the most from your work.
Read more below about the aim, techniques, tools and resources you will learn about in this workshop.
Aim of this workshop
To help researchers think through the options available to them and to help them start a communication plan that suits their research aims and objectives.
You will learn:
- The benefits of communicating your research beyond academia
- The six building blocks of a communications plan
- How to articulate your research in 60 seconds
You will be able to:
- Articulate a clear goal for your research communication efforts
- Start building your communications plan in the session
- Know the exact steps to take to fully complete your plan after the session with your team
Put theory into practice by:
- Exchanging ideas with your peers and getting feedback on your research communications plan
- Having a clear structure and template to follow
- Completing practical exercises to activate your thinking and get you to take the (often hardest) first step

“My favourite aspect of the workshop was the networking and the breakout rooms to work on the practical application of new knowledge. I also liked the simple, clear guidelines for how to start thinking about comms plan steps.”
